1st Track Meet

Both girls are in the DCG Track Club, new this year. They started practice beginning of April and have 5 meets. Today was the 1st one. Both girls did an awesome job! Hannah tried long jump, 400, and 4x400.  Haydn ran the 100, 200 and 4x100. It was super windy (and we all got wind burns) sun would peak out at times. It was a long day but somehow went by fast, except the 4x400 was the very last race, waiting for that seemed like FOREVER. I think Hannah was more nervous than Haydn but both have 1 meet under their belts.  Haydn's 4x100 got second and Hannah's 4x400 got 1st YAY!!

Jackie Joyner-Kersee

For Hannah's Reading/English class they did a research project one someone that contributed to the world.  She chose Jackie Joyner-Kersee. She was born into a poor family. She went onto college and actually got a scholarship for basketball but wanted to try track. Ended up running track in college and went onto the Olympics. She received 6 Olympic medals. Hannah had to dress like her, the speech had to be 3-5 minutes. It was a huge part of her overall grade for this class.

planting flowers

The girls and I have a tradition to plant flowers for Mother's Day. They enjoy picking flowers out and getting dirty planting them. This year is the 10 year anniversary of my grandma Bert passing so I dedicated a pot to her, she LOVED geraniums. She had them in planters lining her walkway up to the house.

I also repotted two house plants. This is my aloe vera plant that had gotten out of control. I cut it WAY back and a VERY long root !

grandma only had red geraniums but we decided to add white ones as well
